Whitney Houston and Dana Bash
Whitney Elizabeth Houston was the youngest of the children of the singer Dionne Warswick, and gospel music legend Cissy Houston. Whitney Elizabeth Houston grew up in a musical household. When she was a little girl, Houston started singing professionally with the church choir. She was a backing vocalist for Chaka Khosns 1978 single Im Every Woman with her mom. The singer went on to sing backing vocals for Lou Rawls Jermaine Jackson and her mother, and also did a brief stint as models on the cover of Seventeen magazine in the year 1981. Her singing with New York-based group Material attracted major record labels such as Arista. She signed with Arista in 1983 where she was a part of the company for the remainder of her professional career. Whitney Houston became the top-selling debut single for a new artist in 1985. My Love was her debut album. My Love was released in 1985, and quickly became a number one single. The album sold 3 million copies the first year as well as 25 million around the world. The album won her first six Grammy Awards. The Whitney album released in 1987 which featured the songs that I Wanna Dance With Somebody and Where Do Broken Hearts Get to continue her popularity. However, it was The Bodyguard of 1992 that turned her into one of the top-selling artists in history. The film, and her performance as a character was not appreciated, but the soundtrack as well as her version of the song by Dolly Parton I Will Always Love You charted for several months on the charts and she sold over 44 million singles and albums all over the world. The same year, she married Bobby Brown who was a former New Edition singer. She was the sole daughter of Bobby and Bobbi Kristina Brown together in March 1993. About this time her well-documented addiction to drugs began. By 1996, she had been using drugs on a daily basis.
Dana Bash (also known as Dana Ruth Schwartz) is a CNN political reporter and anchorwoman. Her programs on Saturdays include Evans & Novak Late Edition, Inside Politics and Inside Politics.
